In honor of Claire Guasco

Claire Adele Guasco was born on November 4, 2023 at 8:49am. She weighed 6lbs 3.5 oz and was 18 inches long. Unbeknownst to everyone, Claire was born with a fatal mitochondrial disease called ATAD3 gene mutation. She lived for 87 days in the NICU where her clinical team searched for answers for her disease and treated her symptoms. One of her providers nicknamed her a unicorn due to her fierce will to live, despite the multiple symptoms she endured. 


She passed away on January 29, 2024. A few weeks later, she was accepted as a participant by the Undiagnosed Disease Network. On January 7, 2026, the UDN diagnosed Claire with the ATAD3 gene mutation. Claire is one of 4 children, all brothers. Her older brother, Cody and younger brother Vinny. Claire’s youngest brother, Nathan, was sadly lost to a second trimester miscarriage.
